York Region Breast Cancer Friends
in Partnership with the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation

York Region Breast Cancer Friends is a volunteer based organization that raises money for breast cancer research, diagnosis and treatment and has been active for over 20 years in our community. For the past three years, York Region Breast Cancer Friends has partnered with the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation to support its community Breast Health Centre. The new rapid access Breast Health Centre represents a patientcentred model of care offering the latest in diagnostic, assessment and treatment capabilities focused completely on our patients’ needs. The centre delivers “one-stop” coordinated care in a dignified setting built for optimum patient comfort and privacy.

Varley-McKay Art Foundation and the Fredrick Horsman Varley Art Gallery

The Varley-McKay Art Foundation supports the Varley Art Gallery of Markham, which is in its 12th year as a premiere cultural destination in York Region. The gallery is committed to presenting historical and
contemporary exhibitions, and offers programming that benefits the entire community. Through studio courses, art camps for children, in-house and outreach programming in York Region schools and special events dedicated to celebrating the arts, the gallery is an integral component in engaging the community. New initiatives include youth at-risk programming and an expansion of our community outreach program.
