Practise Your Escape Plan
A 2004 study commissioned by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs found that 64% of Canadians claim to have a home fire escape plan. Of this 64%, 63% had not practised their escape plan with family members even once.
This year’s theme, “It’s Fire Prevention Week – Practise Your Escape Plan,” is a timely and important reminder to not only develop an escape plan but to practise it with everyone in the household. People can have less than a minute to escape a home fire safely. It is vital that everyone in the home knows exactly what to do if a fire starts and the smoke alarms sound.
