Support seniors and caregivers! CHATS - Community Home Assistance to Seniors invites you to participate in York region's only indoor 5K Run/40K Walk to Whistler Challenge fundraiser. The Walk takes place Jan. 17 to 24, with participants walking 40K on their own time, inside or outside, on their own or with friends, on a treadmill or on the street. The Run takes place Jan. 24, on treadmills at Fit City in Newmarket. The combined kilometers of the runners and walkers equals the distance from CHATS in Aurora to Whistler, the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and back to Aurora. The goal is to raise $20,000 through pledges. Mara Jones, a World Champion and Olympic rower, and native of Aurora, is thrilled to support this event, as she firmly believes the key to aging well starts by maintaining a balanced and active lifestyle.

The enthusiastic residents that make up the Festival committee meet starting in January to prepare for this event. New members are most welcome to join the committee.
