The Town of Markham supports Active 2010
Active 2010 : Participation in sport and physical activity has always been an important part of life in Ontario. With the complexities of modern living increasing it has become more and more challenging for adults and children to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.
ACTIVE2010 is a comprehensive strategy to increase participation in sport and physical activity throughout Ontario. The Town of Markham has taken on this strategy in hopes of developing a healthier and a higher quality of life to all of our residents. The Active 2010 is broken up into 4 projects:
Living School : Living School is an Ontario initiative that extends beyond the classroom and schoolyard and brings together entire communities. Living School Project helps improve physical activity levels and healthy eating behaviours. The project also improved students' readiness to learn, reduced behavioural problems, and created a safe learning environment.

Try-It-Week: Come out to see how it easy it could be to get with it and get active. During one week in June 2007, the Town of Markham Recreation Department along with community partners will be offering FREE recreation programs. These programs will show how easy it is to become physically active.
