ARMADALE COMMUNITY CENTRE

Armadale Community Centre is located at 2401 Denison Street on the southwest corner of McCowan Road and Denison Street. The main entrance to the facility is from the parking lot area.

The centre opened October 21, 1996. Facility features include a 7,200 sq. foot maple suspended floor gymnasium which also is home to a 30-foot climbing wall with 3 challenge elements, 190 holds, and a 60-foot bouldering wall. A cycling fitness room, 3 multipurpose rooms ranging from 450-2000 sq. feet, a spacious kitchen with household size appliances, and a comfortable lobby area, complete the Centre's rooms.

Seasonal sport, fitness and leisure programs are available. Many of our programs require advance registration although you will find pay-as-you-go sport services available for various ages seven days a week. Please see the Markham Recreation seasonal guide for specific information.

Armadale Community Centre is also the home of Armadale Montessori School, a Kumon Math/Reading school, and the Milliken Parent Child Resources Centre, along with several cultural and community faith gatherings and orchestra groups.

We can accommodate meeting/party rentals of 20 to 100 people. All rooms are licensable under the AGCO (formerly the LLBO). The gymnasium provides several unique rental opportunities for rock-climbing parties where staff work with your group, to regular sport rentals in which we provide the equipment and you play on your own.

ROUGE RIVER COMMUNITY CENTRE

Rouge River Community Centre is located in the Legacy housing development at 9th Line and 14th Avenue at 120 Rouge Bank Drive. Overlooking the Rouge Valley, this picturesque site was the former IBM Golf and Country Club.

In the summer of 1999, an outdoor leisure pool was added to the site and a full schedule of public and family swim and aqua-fitness classes were introduced. Starting the fall of 1999, indoor recreation programs began at this site. Popular services include Adult Ballroom, Latin and Swing Dance, Pre-school basketball, and Pre-teen drawing programs.

All facilities are available for rental. There is a hardwood floor auditorium complete with a stage and a wonderful view of the adjacent golf course. There is also a more intimate poolside lounge. Kitchen facilities are also available. Both rooms are licensable under the AGCO (formerly the LLBO).
