Set-up and take down charges
The cost for set-up and take down is included in the rental rates for most facilities. Please note: the Community Service Group (CSG) rates do not include setup and take down; these groups must arrange to do this on their own or hire Town staff to do so at a nominal fee. Setup requests must be made 14 days prior to the event.

Mandatory Insurance Coverage for all Facility Rentals

The Town of Markham requires that all persons or companies renting Town facilities must have insurance coverage with the following attributes:

• Two million dollars of commercial general liability insurance
• Name the Corporation of the Town of Markham as an additional insured
• Include full participant coverage  

Insurance may be available to clients, who cannot provide insurance through their residential or commercial insurance polity, please check with the Town’s Customer Service Representative. Proof of insurance must be provided to the Customer Service Representative a minimum of 14 days prior to the event.

Rental rates
Rental rates for meeting rooms and halls vary by size and facility. Ice and pool rates are standardized across the town. For more information on rental rates, please contact the individual facility.

Payment guidelines
In general, charges and fees for renting a facility may be paid for by cash, cheque or credit card. A 50% deposit is required to confirm the function. The balance of all charges is due 30 days in advance of the date of the rental. Failure to make this full and final payment may result in cancellation of the rental. Payments guidelines for the Markham Theatre, Markham Museum and Varley Art Gallery may differ.

Smoke-free bylaw
Bylaw No. A-0285-2000-105. Markham facilities are designated as smoke-free areas.

The Varley Gallery provides an elegant venue in the heart of historic Unionville. Take advantage of its parkland setting, landscaped courtyard and community rooms with exclusive gallery viewing for your private or corporate event. An elegant modern facility, Markham Theatre is the perfect venue for performances, corporate events and private functions for 8 to 530 people. The auditorium features crystal clear acoustics, a spectacular stage and plenty of leg room. The multi-level lobby is perfect for an informal luncheon, cocktail party or reception. There is also a rehearsal hall and an artist's lounge for smaller groups of 15 to 150 people. Planning a party? Let Markham look after the setup and the clean-up. We have a number of kid-friendly rooms designed to accommodate small or large parties. We provide the room; you provide the activities, food and supervision. Looking for something a little different?
