Funding for Environmental Projects


Protection of the environment is a strategic priority of Markham Council.

The Town of Markham provides financial assistance to Markham community groups, non-governmental organizations and public agencies for projects that promote environmental responsibility and innovation and enhance the Town's natural resources.

Find out how your group can take advantage of these funds today.

Community Cleanup funded by Markham Environmental Sustainability Fund Markham Environmental Sustainability Fund

Apply today to help finance your group's environmental project. Eligibility for project funding includes:

  • Energy/water efficiency
  • Climate change reductions
  • Habitat restoration
  • Cleanup activities
  • Environmental education
  • Community tree plantings up to $10,000

Trees for Tomorrow Planting Markham Trees for Tomorrow Fund

Trees for Tomorrow is a multi-year plan to dramatically increase tree cover in Markham. Our commitment was to plant an additional 75,000 trees in Markham by the end of 2010. The Trees For Tomorrow program was a great success and as of May 30, 2010 125,000 trees had been planted. The Trees for Tomorrow Fund provides financial assistance for large tree planting projects.
