The Markham Village, Thornhill and Unionville Recycling Depots will be open on Thursday, December 24th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All Depots will be closed on Friday, December 25th and open on Saturday, December 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed on January 1st New Years Day.

- Rechargeable Batteries (Alkaline batteries should be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot for disposal).
Learn more about this program  Ni-Cd Nickel Cadmium, Pb Small Sealed Lead, Ni-MH Nickel Metal Hydride, Li-ion Lithium Ion All batteries must be rechargeable and have one of the above four symbols on them. Examples of these are cell phone batteries, cordless drill batteries and laptop computer batteries.

| How to get a Blue Box, Backyard Composter, Green Bin or Indoor Organics Container |
Composters, Green Bins & Blue Boxes are available at all Recycling Depots.
Blue boxes can be purchased at all Recycling Depots and at the Angus Glen, Thornhill, Centennial and Milliken Mills Community Centres or at the Markham Civic Centre. Both regular ($6.00) and Jumbo ($8.00)Blue Boxes are available. Broken Blue Boxes can be exchanged free of charge at Recycling Depots ONLY.

Green Bins and Indoor Organics Containers can be purchased at all Recycling Depots and at the Angus Glen, Thornhill, Centennial and Milliken Mills Community Centres. Please note that Green Bins are not available at the Markham Civic Centre. Green Bins are $18.00 and Indoor Organics Containers are $5.00 each.

- Markham Civic Centre will accept cheques, Visa or MasterCard or cash.
- Community Centres accept cash and cheques only.
