Actions taken since the severe August 19, 2005 storm
Almost two years ago, a severe storm tracked across the GTA causing considerable flooding in a number of areas in the Town of Markham.
Since the August 19, 2005 storm, The Town
- Has repaired storm damaged areas
- Continues to review its storm water and sanitary systems
- Will undertake further studies and initiatives to reduce the potential for future flooding and
- Is investigating cost-effective ways to increase protection against flooding during heavy storm events throughout all areas of our community.
This information brochure ( 226k/2p) details the Town's actions and highlights ways homeowners can ensure protection to relieve flooding on your property.
The initial report ( 21k/7p) on the Town's actions and practices was completed by R.V. Anderson Consulting Engineers. A copy of the complete report is available for viewing at the Clerks Office, Town of Markham, 101 Town Centre Blvd., Markham.
