Markham Water Annual Report January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009
The Town of Markham collects and tests water samples at 96 locations throughout the distribution system in compliance with the Ontario Drinking Water System Regulation. Sampling is rotated through these locations and tested rigorously for Chlorine residual, Bacteria, Trihalomethanes, Nitrites & Nitrates, Lead, Organics & Inorganics in compliance with Ontario Regulation 170/03. The samples are collected by licensed Town operators and analyzed by the provincially approved York-Durham Regional Environmental Laboratory.
The Town reports any adverse sampling results to the York Region Medical Officer of Health and the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and immediately undertakes the necessary corrective action.
The drinking water distributed to Markham residents in 2009 was of high quality.
