Markham Conservation Committee - The Markham Conservation Committee was formed in 1984, one of the earliest environmental advisory committees in the province. Evergreen Hospice is a non-profit organization that provides supportive care for people of all ages in Markham and Whitchurch-Stouffville who are experiencing the impact of life-threatening illness and death. Services include in-home support, the Kathleen Mullin Day Program as well as counselling programs developed to meet the specific needs of children, teens and adults.

Hospice Thornhill is a community-based support service that helps meet the non-medical needs of those with life-threatening illnesses - as well as providing respite for their families and caregivers. Specially trained volunteers provide these services that include: emotional support and companionship, assistance with day-to-day needs of the clients and caregiver backup. "Heartlines" Bereavement offers a range of bereavement programs including 8-week sessions and weekly drop-in groups. A Day Respite Program provides a weekly opportunity to enjoy fellowship and activities as well as selected therapeutic treatments by accredited practitioners. In-home visitation and therapeutic touch by trained volunteers and telephone support.
