Markham is developing a Community Sustainability Plan, but we need your input.
RIGHT NOW we want to hear from you about
our draft sustainability goals.
Markham is the most diverse and one of the fastest growing communities in Canada. It’s up to all of us to ensure it continues to be a vibrant, successful, and sustainable community, well into the future.
Community sustainability is about taking a holistic approach to every decision we make – one that looks at protecting and enhancing the environmental, economic, social and cultural vitality of our community.
For example:
The 75,000 trees planted as a result of the
Markham
Trees for Tomorrow program will have the social benefit
of bringing people in our community together to
participate in group plantings.
Our decision to adopt a local foods policy at Markham facilities is helping support Ontario's farm economy,
reduce green house gases and promote environmentally responsible purchasing.
Markham’s Community Sustainability Plan will help prepare Markham for future challenges, both locally and globally, and make sure Markham continues to be a great place to live, work and play.
It's your future, Markham.
Have your say!
