Community sustainability is about taking a holistic approach to every decision we make – one that looks at protecting and enhancing the environmental, economic, social and cultural vitality of our community.

For example:

The 75,000 trees planted as a result of the
Markham Trees for Tomorrow program will have the social benefit of bringing people in our community together to participate in group plantings.

Our decision to adopt a local foods policy at Markham facilities is helping support Ontario's farm economy, reduce green house gases and promote environmentally responsible purchasing.
