Since launching the new economic development marketing campaign in May 1997 to position Markham as a "Canada's High-Tech Capital", the Town has witnessed the growing success of its economy that further validates Markham's new position and title. Markham has continued to successfully attract a high concentration of high tech companies that have helped to strengthen and expand its high tech sector. The positive performance of the high tech sector has proven to be the key economic driver of  Markham's economy.

Markham's High-Tech Companies in The Branham Top 300 Canadian IT Companies

Markham has successfully attracted the largest concentration of high tech companies in Canada.  There were 21 companies from Markham that found their way into Canada’s Top 250 IT companies as monitored by the Branham Group. The rankings of the companies are based on revenues generated in the 2010 financial year.
