Stiver Mill Restoration Update
Construction has begun on the restoration of the historic Stiver Mill on Main Street Unionville. The mill, which was constructed in 1916, is a historic landmark symbolizing Markham’s agricultural heritage. In recent years it has served as the location for a weekly farmers’ market.
Earlier this year, through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, the federal government provided over $600,000 to help restore the mill. This project will include the restoration of the building’s exterior, the renovation of the ground floor to create recreation and programming space, and landscaping and integration with the Unionville Train Station, including the construction of a boardwalk leading to Main Street Unionville.
