Dear friends and neighbours,
I am delighted to have this opportunity to share my thoughts with you on the City of Markham’s official website.
I have had the honour and responsibility of representing you for more than two years now. I am happy to report that my nineteen years of community volunteerism, coupled with my work experience as a Markham entrepreneur, have enabled me to serve you well.
I have done a lot of careful listening to you, by phone, by email or face-to-face. I am here FOR you and BECAUSE OF you. Markham is a diverse, dynamic, desirable Canadian community and together we can ensure our community’s future remains that way.
Diversity is reflected in Markham and in the faces of my Ward 6 constituents, who come from all walks of life. One of the many things that I enjoy about my work is this diversity. For example one day I am working on playground project for our little ones, such as the Angus Glen Community Park, and the next day I am advocating for our senior population by increasing their recreational opportunities such as pickle ball and karaoke.
I also expend a lot of energy dealing with transit and transportation issues. One of the costs of living in a booming community like Markham is traffic gridlock. That is why a project like widening Warden Avenue between 16th and Major Mackenzie is essential. There will always be challenges with regards to traffic congestion but we can tackle these problems together.
Please do not ever hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas or concerns. Call me, e-mail me or drop into my office. I welcome your thoughts and opinions. I also invite you to visit me on Facebook and Twitter. Your community is alive in all kinds of ways and my ever-changing Facebook pictures will assure you of that.
Thank you so much for giving me the privilege of serving you in public office. I look forward to hearing from you and talking to you.
Councillor, Ward 6
