About the Greenprint

Image representing environmental health, social and cultural well-being and economic vitalityThe Greenprint is a long-term plan to address Markham’s environmental health, economic vitality, social well-being and cultural vibrancy.  It is a comprehensive strategy to make Markham one of the most livable and sustainable communities in North America.

Change

The Greenprint will facilitate the actions necessary to prepare Markham for future challenges, both locally and globally, to ensure Markham continues to be great place to live, work, and play.  As decisions are made in the future, it is important that high quality of life continues to be a priority and that Markham becomes a complete, connected community where all residents can thrive.

Greenprint Beginnings

Our planning began as a response to Mayor Frank Scarpitti’s 2006 Inaugural Speech stating that “Our Greenprint for Markham will be a comprehensive plan that will enhance the quality of life in Markham and improve our natural environment.”  This plan would be achieved through the cooperation and engagement of government, business, non-government organizations, youth and citizens.
