Sustainability Priorities
For Markham, becoming a “sustainable community” is about considering our community’s environmental, economic, social and cultural vitality in every decision we make – the “pillars” of sustainability. These twelve priorities each relates to all three pillars of sustainability and are all equally important as part of what the Town of Markham seeks to sustain over the long-term.
Each Sustainability Priority will have a chapter in the final Greenprint document, covering definitions, the global and local context, baseline indicators to measure progress, descriptions of the actions Markham will take in cooperation with community partners, and a systems thinking matrix to show integration with the other 11 Sustainability Priorities. All of the recommendations will be located in the appendix.
