Markham offers owners a convenient Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan (PTP) option. The PTP Plan provides for taxes to be automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the dates set by the Town in either 6 installment or 11 monthly payments. For commercial / industrial properties only the 6 installment plan is available.

Eligibility
All taxes due to the effective date must be paid prior to enrollment in the Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Program (PTP).

How to Apply

Apply Online

Complete an application form, and attach a void cheque to the application (line of credit, credit card and savings cheques cannot be used).

Payments can be made on or before the due date at most financial institutions. Please do not make payments through an automatic teller, as a proper dated receipt is not provided.

Make your cheque payable to "Town of Markham". Please ensure that your cheques are for the full installment amounts and are dated for the installment due dates. Once submitted, post-dated cheques cannot be withdrawn from our files.

Please record the Tax Roll Number on the front of your cheque.

When sending cheques, please record the Tax Roll Number on the front of your cheque. Please note that the payments must reach the Town by the due date to avoid interest charges. Your cancelled cheque is your receipt. Do not send cash through the mail.

A penalty of 1.25% per month will be charged for late payments.

Computer or telephone banking through any of the major chartered banks of other financial institutions can also make payments. To pay by this method you require your roll number as noted on your tax bill. Please note that only the first nineteen numbers are required starting with 36. Please ensure payment is made 5 days prior to the due date to avoid penalty charges.

Drop off your payments in the drop box located at the Thornhill Entrance:

Monday to Friday Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
