Strategic Plan

In 2007 MPL embarked on a new Strategic Plan using a balanced scorecard approach. Our new Strategic Plan focuses on strategies and innovations that will move MPL forward in it's journey to become The Place where Markham's communities come together to imagine, learn and grow.  

Rooted in MPL's vision, mission and values the strategic plan is built upon 5 perspectives: 

  • Customer Perspective - Delighting the customer by offering library services that attract, satisfy and retain customers.

  • Resources and Services Perspective - Offering the right collections, services and programs to meet our customers needs.

  • Internal Processes Perspective - Ensuring business processes are efficient and cost-effective.  Improving productivity and efficiency so that our staff can focus on excellence in customer service.

  • Learning and Growth Perspective - Training our staff  in order to achieve our Vision and sustain our ability to continuously change and improve.

  • Financial Perspective - To achieve our Vision, how do we get the financial resources we need?  How do we ensure accountability and deliver value?
