Markham Public Library appreciates all the hard work of our volunteers! Volunteer recruitment is an ongoing process. In order to be considered for a position you must:

• Be at least 13 years old
• Commit to a minimum of 40 volunteer hours
• Attend a Volunteer Information Session

The Volunteer Information Session provides information on Markham Public Library volunteer policies, and volunteer opportunities and responsibilities. Attendance at a session is mandatory for all potential volunteers. The sessions are held throughout the year at various MPL branches.

In celebration of National Volunteer Week

April 15 – 21, 2012

Volunteers are very important to Markham Public Library and are a fundamental part of our community.  They help us with special projects, and unique services for our community. 

Some volunteers deliver books to residents who are homebound.  Others help with book sales and community festivals.  Many students volunteer their time and energy to fulfill school credit requirements. 

We are grateful to our trustees who serve on the Town of Markham Public Library Board.  These trustees put in many long hours to provide leadership, vision, and direction.  They ensure Markham Public Library continues to deliver services that inform, enrich, and inspire Markham residents and visitors.
