Markham Public Library (MPL) offers a wide range of fun, interactive and educational programs for your children! Try an one of our academic courses or the free services like Reading Buddies or the drop-in programs . Note that before and after care are available for all of our camps.
MPL’s weekly craft programs encourages creativity, self esteem and extends a child’s fine motor skills. Crafts also help develop concepts such as colour or numbers and allows kids to explore ideas or concepts and then express it by making something to keep, entertain others with or simply look at for visual pleasure.
Games help all ages develop and strengthen social, motor, language, and reasoning skills. They can also help improve attention span and focus and reinforce curriculum related information. Customers of all ages are welcomed to spend time together exploring games. MPL provides multiple formats and basic introduction to all games.
Movies are just another way to absorb a great story. MPL offers free screenings of new and popular movies. Showcasing an important and popular part of MPL’s collection. Movies are a popular activity that both Children and Adults can enjoy. Showings include popular family-oriented titles, blockbusters and other movies of interest that often give customers a chance to view movies that have a waiting queue for check-out.
Reading Buddies is a free program for kids to practice their reading one-on-one with a dedicated Reading Buddy. Registration required. Parents/Caregivers: Please pick-up your Parent’s package on the first day of the program.
