Birthday Parties

Markham Museum Birthday Parties

We provide a unique Birthday Party experience for your child and their friends on our 25 acre grounds! We deliver interactive and educational 2 ½ hour parties that always include hands-on activities and free time for your group in the party room.  Our Standard Party Package is suitable for 3- 13 year olds and includes a 1 hour activity and a 30 minute craft. Our Specialty Party Packages allow you to choose one of our 1.5 hour activities of specialized programming delivered by our trained staff.   Book your party today!


Standard Birthday Party Packages 

One of our Museum program instructors will host the party program of your choosing from our seasonal selection of activities ranging from snowshoeing, scavenger hunts and mini-putt.  In addition to the activity, parents will get the opportunity to choose a craft.

  • 1 hour activity of your choosing
  • 30 minutes of a craft
  • 1 hour free time with your guests for presents, cake, and food in the Children's Party Room.

Specialty Birthday Party Packages 

If you're hunting for a fun party then you've found it! Choose your specialized package to explore the diverse programming at the Markham Museum.

  1. Geocaching Treasure Hunt Party 

Explore our museum grounds with our hand held GPS units while geocaching for hidden treasure.  Children will use their skills to find hidden items and complete challenges to fill their loot bags!

Birthday party includes:

  • 1 ½ hours of GPS tutorial and geocaching hunt on site
  • 1 survivor themed loot bag per child
  • 1 hour free time with your guests for presents, cake, food  in the Children's Party Room
  1. Hand Building Pottery Party

Explore our brand new pottery studio where children will have a chance to spend some time working on a themed ceramic project. 

Birthday party includes:

  • 1 ½ hours in our brand new pottery studio working on an age appropriate project
  • Every participating child will complete a ceramic project *pottery project pick-up dates will  be arranged 3 weeks after the party
  • 1 hour free time with your guests for presents, cake, food  in the Children's Party Room
  1. Wheel Throwing Pottery Party

Your pre-teen will have a chance to learn the basics of making pottery using a combination of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques to create their individual pottery piece! *Recommended age is 10 to 13 years old.

Birthday party includes:

  • 1 ½ hours in our brand new pottery studio
  • Every participating child will complete a ceramic project *pottery project pick-up dates will  be arranged 3 weeks after the party
  • 1 hour free time with your guests for presents, cake, food  in the Children's Party Room

Booking Details

Booking your party: 

  1. Call or schedule an appointment. (Parties should be booked 4 weeks in advance to secure your desired date.)
  2. Select your party package.
  3. Full payment is required to secure your reservation.

Important Booking Terms and Conditions:

  • The fee includes the use of the Party Room for 2.5 hours with two program staff.
  • Use of the refrigerator/freezer and the A/V equipment in the party room.
  • Parents/Guardians may arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before the start of the party and must depart promptly at the end of the allotted time.
  • The party room can accommodate a maximum of 40 guests – 20 children, including the birthday child, and 20 adults, including the birthday child’s parents. *Hand Building Pottery Birthdays have a maximum of 20 participants in the pottery studio. Wheel Throwing Pottery Birthdays have a maximum of 16 participants in the pottery studio.
  • Food is not provided by the Museum, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks and refreshments or to order food to the Museum.
  • Please ensure that plates, cups, napkins, and utensils are compostable or recyclable and that all garbage, recycling, and green bin waste is disposed of in the designated areas as the Markham Museum is a zero-waste facility.
  • Parents/guardians may wish to bring in their own themed décor. Please no confetti, candles, sparklers, or piñatas. A birthday party sign and a welcome sign will be posted outside of the building.
  • You can also purchase 20 Markham Museum birthday party invitations for $10. Each invitation includes a Family Admission Pass for a future visit.
  • Cancellations must be made at least 10 business days in advance to avoid incurring loss of an administrative fee.
