Flato Markham Theatre is pleased to offer a select number of school matinees as part of our Educational Outreach Program. All performances are approximately 60 minutes in length. 

Tickets: $10 plus HST per student.

Passage to Bollywood

Direct from India, Passage to Bollywood is a vibrant stage musical with foot tapping music, colourful costumes and a gripping plot that keeps you at the edge of your seat, covering various aspects of the Indian Bollywood culture. It comprises of old classics as well as the latest Bollywood songs. The audience can expect to experience drama, action,romance, and dance just like a typical Bollywood Film. Presented by Navdhara India Dance Theatre. 
SUITABLE FOR GRADES 6 TO 12.

Curriculum Connections: Dance that reflects traditions of diverse communities, dance as language to communicate story, role play and characterization to explore personal and social issues.

Motus O Dance and Marina Nemat - Prisoner of Tehran

Wednesday, March 7, 2018 - 12:30PM

Author of Prisoner of Tehran, international best seller Marina Nemat tells her harrowing story of her time after the Islamic revolution in a multi-disciplinary performance along with Motus O Dance Theatre. A synthesis of dance, theatre and storytelling deals with social justice on the theme of oppression and liberty. Witness her heroic journey from imprisonment to freedom. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with the author, artists, and dancers. SUITABLE FOR GRADES 7 TO 12.

Moscow Festival Ballet - Giselle

In the great tradition of grand ballet, the Moscow Festival Ballet presents the romantic tale of a young peasant girl who falls in love with a count disguised as a villager. This masterpiece, which was preserved by Russian dancers and choreographers, is filled with vengeance, betrayal, and death, but love and forgiveness prevail overall. SUITABLE FOR ALL GRADES
