Markham Sports Day is a one-day event that celebrates the power of sport, builds community, fortifies our national spirit while facilitating healthy, active living and helps us GET OUT & GET ACTIVE! This is a great day for families to participate and watch a variety of sports for all ages. Come join the fun!

Table Tennis Canada — Drop In Sessions

Learn to play table tennis from the pros at one of Canada’s premier athletic training facilities and the home of Table Tennis Canada. Staff will be available to assist and teach new players the game.

Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Location: Warm-up Hall
Age: All ages

Markham In Motion Physical Literacy Activities

Throughout the morning, participants of all ages are invited to explore and expand their Physical Literacy by practicing the Fundamental Movements such as hopping, skipping, throwing, catching and jumping with the Markham in Motion street team! Learning these Fundamental Movement Skills at a young age helps children gain confidence and motivates them to lead healthier active lives. Physical Literacy is as important as your ABCs, 123s and do-re-mi’s!

Basketball Skills & Drills

Improve your game and develop skills in dribbling, passing, footwork, layups and shooting. This session will be led by Titus Channer, New Horizon Basketball.

Trampoline Try It

Join the fun and experience a new way to move and bounce. Trampolines provided by Goba Sports. Demonstrations by Airborne Trampoline Newmarket.

VOLT Cars

Experience a new way to play hockey. VOLT Cars were designed in Denmark and offer children with physical disabilities the opportunity to engage in Canada’s national sport. VOLT Cars are on loan from Variety Village.

Carrom

Carrom (also known as Karrom) is a "strike and pocket" table game of Eastern origin similar to billiards and table shuffleboard. This game is played by all ages and we encourage you to come out and try it. The Markham Pan Am Centre will be the host venue for the 2020 World Carrom Championships.

Give a Kid a Chance Sport Equipment Drive Kick-Off

Community donations that will make an impact. Your gift of new or gently used baseball bats and gloves will inspire youth and help them lead more physically active lifestyle.

The City of Markham and Eabametoong First Nation have formed a community partnership. Eabametoong First Nation has identified health and wellness, physical literacy and youth engagement as priority legacy projects for their community.

Through the Give a Kid a Chance Sports Equipment Drive, Markham has an opportunity to help inspire youth to be engaged in physical literacy.

Donations of your new or gently used baseball bats and gloves will be accepted at the event.

Lifesaving Sport Meet — Facilitated by: City of Markham's Lifesaving Club of Markham

The Lifesaving Club of Markham is proud to host their first Junior Lifesaving Invitational event of the season at the Markham Pan Am Centre. Athletes ages 7 – 16 are invited to showcase their swimming and lifesaving skills in this fast and exciting challenge of lifesaving sport. Athletes from across Ontario will be competing in multiple individual and team events requiring them to swim with fins, race under an obstacle and showing proficiency in multiple strokes.

Time: Warm up at 11:00 a.m., heats begins at 12:15 p.m.
Location: Pool

Participants must be a member of a lifesaving club. Individual registrations will not be accepted. Members of the public are invited as spectators only.
