The mission of the Markham Fire Prevention Division is to promote a fire safe community through the delivery of effective fire prevention and public education programs. Fire prevention and public education are the most cost effective and successful means of providing fire protection to the community.
The Fire Prevention Division is comprised of twelve persons:
1 Chief Fire Prevention Officer
1 Senior Fire Prevention Officer
8 Fire Prevention Officers
2 Plans Examiners
The Fire Prevention Division has three mandates, the enforcement of the Ontario Fire Code and the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, Fire Investigations and to provide fire safety education to the citizens of Markham.
