The City of Markham has a goal to recycle 70% of our garbage. Mission Green has helped Markham residents recycle 72% of our waste, one of the highest recycling rates in Ontario!
Service trucks collect recycling, organics, garbage, appliances, and leaf and yard materials from more than 80,000 households every week. To find out when your collection day is just look at Markham's Collection Schedule.
Don't Miss The Truck! Please have items at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
Weather Alert:
Hot and humid weather is common during the summer months, but it can make curbside collection of materials a difficult task for your collector. Below are some simple things you can do to help:
- Make sure all your recycling, organics and garbage is properly separated at the curb
- Have all material at your curb by 7:00 a.m.
- Ensure all items for collection are easily accessible
- If you have heavier items for collection, consider storing the item for collection on a cooler day
- Offer a drink of cold water to your collector
- To reduce odours, rinse your Green Bin often
Thank you from the City of Markham’s Waste and Environmental Management Division.
