Electronics and Battery Recycling

Electronics and Battery Recycling

Unwanted electronics and batteries are not accepted at the curb for disposal.

City of Markham's garbage is processed as Energy Recovery therefore batteries and electronics should never be incinerated!

If your electronics are in working condition, trying to sell or donate before you drop off for recycling at York Region's Electronics Recycling Depot.

Just like other recyclables such as plastic, aluminum and newspapers, electronics do not belong in the garbage! Most components of electronics – steel, glass, copper, aluminum, plastics and precious metals – can be recovered and reused to make new products.

Many electronics and especially older electronics contain heavy metals that, if not handled properly, can have health concerns and negative environmental impacts.
