Open Streets Markham 2021

Presented by:

What is Open Streets Markham?

In June of 2020, Markham City Council approved several initiatives to help residents stay active as we continue to be socially and physically distant during the pandemic. The City and its partners are closing and/or restricting traffic on two street segments this year - creating cycling, pedestrian friendly routes designed to help keep people active in exploring different parts of Markham.

This year’s two segments include:

1. Main St. Unionville Slow Street (On Now Everyday to Late-September)

Main Street Unionville Slow Street

  • Traffic calming and increased space for cyclists and pedestrians

  • Where: Main St. Unionville from Carlton Rd. to Fred Varley Dr.

2. Middlefield Rd. Shared Street/Road Closures (Ended September 6)
