June is recognized as National Indigenous History Month. It is a time for us to celebrate Indigenous peoples’ culture and heritage.
In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, we have created a special video.
On June 24, the City of Markham hosted a live, interactive virtual drumming and singing session led by Indigenous Knowledge Keeper J’net Ayayqwayaksheelth and her daughter, Thée. The session was well attended by the community and the event was recorded and will be shared as part of Markham’s virtual Canada Day celebrations on July 1. Learn more at markham.ca/CanadaDay.
