City of Markham offers virtual programming for Summer 2020

MARKHAM, ON – July 3, 2020 – The City of Markham is offering a variety of fun, educational, creative and active virtual programs, workshops, and camps for children and adults to enjoy all summer long during Ontario’s COVID-19 reopening.

“The beautiful summer weather has arrived and we want residents to be able to enjoy seasonal activities and help parents provide a meaningful summer experience for their children while encouraging physical distancing to keep everyone safe from COVID-19,” says Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “Programs, workshops, and camps may look a little different this season, but we are committed to the same great quality experience residents are used to receiving from the City of Markham.”

The City of Markham’s Recreation department, the Flato Markham Theatre, the Varley Art Gallery of Markham, the Markham Museum and Markham Public Library will be presenting virtual:

  • fitness classes such as Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Body Weight Boot Camp, Core Stretch and Strength, Cardio Dance
  • dance classes including Ballet, Jazz Dance, Hip Hop
  • aquatic leadership and home pool safety programs
  • multidisciplinary programs such as computer programming, junior firefighters, martial arts
  • Culture Camps to GO! - Theatre, Museum, Art Gallery
  • Library camps (3-D Design & Modelling, STEAM, Game Design)

The majority of programs will be facilitated using a mix of scheduled live Zoom video conferencing and pre-recorded video sessions.

Registrations open on Monday, July 6 at 8 AM.
