Community and Allotment Gardens

Several community and allotment gardens in Markham are operating this season with restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Community Gardens

Markham is home to community and allotment gardens across the city, for residents who want more growing space!
Community gardens are spaces governed by a community group, where growing, cleaning, maintenance and harvesting is done collaboratively. Allotment gardens are owned both by the city and community organizations. Residents can lease plots of land by the season for a set fee. Currently the city owns one allotment garden: The Kirkham Allotment Garden in Ward 7.
The city’s wealth of community and allotment gardens is supported by the food security priority of the Greenprint – Markham’s Community Sustainability Plan [PDF].
