Board and Committee Vacancies
Heintzman House Community Centre Board
Heintzman
House Community Centre is seeking volunteers for its Board of Directors. It advises the City on preservation and
operation of this heritage mansion. The Board participates in Doors Open
Markham and the Thornhill Village Festival, and through its committees it
encourages Community involvement with an annual Artisan Craft Show, Art Show,
and Halloween night for children. There are currently up to four (4) vacancies
on the Board.
- Meetings are held once a month except during the
summer, or in December and January.
Applicants
should reside in the Thornhill Area.

Environmental
Advisory Committee
The Committee provides advice on environmental policy,
planning & sustainability and promotes environmental awareness within the
community. There are up to five (5)
vacancies.
- Meetings are held quarterly on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Applicants should have knowledge of environmental planning, policy & sustainability.

Cycling & Pedestrian
Advisory Committee
The Committee represents the interests of cyclists and pedestrians in Markham, focusing on their needs and priorities. It provides advice and support to the City on cycling & pedestrian infrastructure, education/outreach and research.
- Meetings are held quarterly on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
- There are up to five (5) vacancies on the Committee.
Applicants should be familiar with issues pertaining to cyclist & pedestrians.

Flato Markham Theatre
Advisory Board
The Flato Markham Theatre Advisory Board provides support with Strategic and Business Planning; assists with raising funds; increses the awarness and profile of the Theatre within the community; and provides advice to Council on the matters regarding the Theatre.
- There are currently up to eight (8) vacancies on the Committee.
- Meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m, excluding July, August and December
Applicants should have interest and knowledge of the performing arts and fundraising experience is an asset.

Markham Public Library
Board
The Board ensures Markham Public Libraries have comprehensive and balanced library materials and it secures adequate funds to carry on the Library’s programs that meet the needs of Markham residents.
- The Board meets the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 pm.
Applicants must be eighteen (18) years old or older; a Canadian citizen; and a Markham resident. There are currently up to twelve (12) vacancies on the Board.
