All artists aged 18 and up are eligible to apply to enter the competition.
Applicants are required to submit the following:
- Letter of Interest
- Artist Statement describing your current artistic practice and artist bio (300 word maximum)
- CV with full contact information including phone number, email address and postal address
- Up to two JPG images of recently completed work. Accepted mediums include acrylic, oil and watercolour paints, as well as drawing media (pastel, conte, pencil, etc.). Please label image files with a number, your name and the title of the work (example .01_FredVarley_Toogood Pond).
We ask artists to submit applications via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, this email address will only accept submissions up to 5 MB in size due to server limitations. Artists may also send submissions via an email transfer program such as www.wetransfer.com or www.dropbox.com.
The deadline to apply has been extended to July 22, 2019 at 12 PM.
Applications to enter the competition will be adjudicated by a jury based on:
- the quality of the work submitted and,
- the artist’s statement.
The jury will consist of practicing artists, Varley Art Gallery staff and members of the Unionville BIA.
Artists selected to participate in the competition will be notified by email by Monday, July 12, 2019. Those who are not selected for the competition are still invited to come out and paint with us over the course of the weekend.
