Project Updates as of November 12, 2020

Dye Testing in Carlton Pumping Station Catchment Area

(Warden Ave. in the West, Unionville Main St. in the East, Carlton Rd. in the South and 16th Ave. in the North)

  • Project starts in November, 2020 and will be completed by June, 2021
  • The City is conducting dye testing to confirm downspouts connection status.
  • A dye test requires pouring dyed water into downspouts and monitoring the sewers on the street to determine the outlet location of the dyed water.
  • Notices will be delivered in advance to properties being tested.
  • On the day of testing, the City's consultant will known on your door to inform you that they will be assessing your property to conduct the dye test and answer any questions.
  • The City's consultant will be wearing appropriate PPE and masks, maintain social distancing and WILL NOT enter your home. 
  • The testing takes between 30minutes to 2 hours depending on how many downspouts need to be tested. 

West Thornhill Phase 2C

(Highland Park Boulevard, Woodward, Grandview, Meadowview, Willowdale, Dudley, Jewell Street)

  • Project is 95% complete. Contractor will resume work on the week of May 4, 2020
  • All storm sewers, watermains, water and storm service connections complete
  • All disturbed roads are paved to base asphalt and compliant with regular City of Markham snow removal arrangements
  • Remaining work to be done in spring 2020 – complete some residential restorations which were incomplete during early onset of snow and very cold weather at beginning of November 2019.
  • Top paving of some roads also to be done in spring after the customary seasonal gap left for the road restorations to settle in before final paving.
  • Roads to be top asphalted in Spring 2020:
    • Highland Park Boulevard (Willowdale to Yonge)
    • Woodward Avenue (Dudley to Yonge)
    • Laneway near Yonge Street, between Highland Park Boulevard and Woodward Avenue

West Thornhill Phase 2D

(East of Jewell Street – Highland Park Boulevard, Woodward, Grandview, Henderson, Dalmeny, Delair)

  • Project is 95% complete. Contractor will resume work on the week of April 27, 2020
  • All new storm sewers, watermains, and service connections are complete
  • All disturbed roads are paved to base asphalt and compliant with regular City of Markham snow removal arrangements
  • Roads to be top asphalted in Spring 2020:
    • Henderson Avenue between Dalmeny and Grandview
    • Dalmeny Road
    • Delair Crescent
    • Highland Park Boulevard (Jewell Street to Grandview Avenue)
    • Grandview Avenue (Jewell Street to Henderson)
    • Woodward Avenue trench top paving

Bayview Glen – Cast Iron Watermain and Sanitary Sewer Replacement

(Valloncliffe Road, Seincliffe Road, Limcombe Drive, Huckleberry Lane, Lafayette Place, Old English Lane, Doncrest Drive, Carriage Hill Court, Hampshire Court)

  • Project is overall 90% complete
  • Valloncliffe Rd
    • All underground infrastructure installed
    • Final culvert replacements to be done by October 23, 2020
    • Final paving to be completed in the last week of October, 2020
  • Limcombe Dr and Huckleberry Lane
    • All watermain servicing completed
    • Paving shceduled for the week of October 14, 2020
  • Seinecliffe Rd
    • Watermain and services completed
    • Trench restoration and paving to occur by the end of October, 2020 
  • Old English Lane/Doncrest Dr/Hampshire Crt/Carriage Hill Crt 
    • Completed with minor restoration remaining
  • Huckleberry Lane 
    • Watermain and servicing completed
    • Final restoration scheduled for completion by the end of October, 2020


Watermain Replacement – McCowan Road and Heritage Road

  • Project is 99% complete with final restoration deficiencies to be restored.


Bayview Glen North and Laureleaf – Cast Iron Watermain Replacement

(Ladyslipper Court, Poinsetta Drive, Multiflora Place, Wildrose Crescent, Babcombe Drive, Hammock Crescent and Laureleaf Road South of Daffodil Avenue)

  • Phase 1 (Ladyslipper Court, Poinsetta Drive, Multiflora Place and Wildrose Crescent) to begin in the spring of 2020
  • Phase 2 (Hammock Crescent and Babcombe Drive) to begin in the summer of 2020
  • Phase 3 (Laureleaf Road South of Daffodil Avenue) to being in 2021

West Thornhill Flood Control implementation Phase 3A – Sewer and Watermain replacement

(Henderson Avenue from Glen Cameron Road to Elgin Street, Morgan Avenue from Henderson Avenue to Yonge Street, Clarke Avenue from west of Henderson Avenue to Johnson Street and Vanwood Road)

Construction is scheduled to begin the week of April 20, 2020, with expected completion December 2021.

Henderson Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Glen Cameron Road to Elgin Street from the week of April 27, 2020, to July 31, 2020. Access will be maintained for all residents living along this section of Henderson Avenue at all times during the temporary closure.

Construction notices to residents in the immediate area of the construction will be distributed by April 20, 2020.


CIPP Watermain Lining of Woodbine Crossings @ Hwy #7 and Miller Ave   

  • Starting at Miller Ave @ Woodbine Ave Oct 20th, 2020 – Southbound Woodbine lanes will be affected between 9:00am to 3:30pm. 
  • Starting at Highway #7 Oct 26th, 2020 – Eastbound Highway #7 lanes will be affected between 9:00am to 3:30pm.
  • Anticipated completion is mid-December.
