THE FLATO MARKHAM THEATRE UNVEILS

 NEW BRANDING, BOX OFFICE SYSTEM AND WEBSITE

MARKHAM (September 10, 2019) – The Flato Markham Theatre (FMT) and the City of Markham are pleased to unveil a fresh new brand identity for FMT, along with the debut the Audience View Customer Relationship Management (CRM) & Ticketing System and a new patron-centric website.

“The new Flato Markham Theatre identity supports the Destination Markham strategy in reaching new audiences to showcase a vibrant community with globally competitive companies, new infrastructure, attractive amenities, convenient transportation links, an exploding population, a highly educated workforce, and leading shopping and entertainment districts” said Mayor Frank Scarpitti.

Markham Theatre (MT) first opened its doors in 1984, serving the Markham community of 60,000. At that time, the MT was state-of-the-art and an important investment in building a cultural and creative sector in York Region. It was one of the first municipally owned and operated performing arts centers in the GTA and its interconnectivity to a municipal and educational infrastructure was unparalleled.

Today, Markham has evolved into a dynamic and leading city in the GTA, with nearly 400,000 citizens and a truly cosmopolitan make-up with a melting pot of cultures.

The Flato Markham Theatre brand is well established in Markham and the immediate surrounding area, yet the reach of the theatre needs to be constantly expanded and enhanced through ongoing marketing efforts in order to reach all the diverse community groups inside and outside of Markham, York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

The new logo, which was approved by Markham Council earlier this year, is a statement of how the Theatre has continued to evolve and build on its reputation and ability to attract new and diverse audiences year in and year out. The new brand identity also offers an opportunity to celebrate the continued naming commitment of Flato Developments.

Toronto-based AudienceView (AV) was selected to become the Theatre’s new ticketing and CRM vendor. AudienceView services 100+ performing arts centres around the globe and processes more than 65 million tickets annually. AV will allow the Theatre to operate as a more robust and digitally driven organization.

The Theatre is most excited to announce the official launch of the new FMT website at flatomarkhamtheatre.ca. Patrons of York Region and beyond can now seamlessly search and purchase tickets, subscriptions, and donate online in a desktop and mobile-friendly environment.

In the first week of operations, the new website saw almost 30,000 pageviews from patrons across the GTA.

“The new web-based system better serves the needs of the theatre moving forward” said Eric Lariviere, General Manager of Flato Markham Theatre. “It will allow our patrons to have an enhanced buying experience, and lets our staff become a more robust, digitally savvy team – the opportunities are endless, and we are excited to see where this can take our Theatre operations.”

The new logo, website and box office system will assist with increasing awareness and enhance the FMT brand identity, which will allow Flato Markham Theatre to reach, not only its current audience, but new audiences, and generate excitement for upcoming seasons and community engagement.
