Park and Play Fun Tour Photo Contest – Contest Rules

The Contest is open to all Markham residents except for elected officials or employees of The Corporation of the City of Markham (“Markham”). Markham reserves the right to verify the eligibility of the potential winners.

Contest Period

Contest entry period is from Saturday July 10, 2023 at 12:01 a.m. EDT to Thursday August 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Entry

No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. In order to qualify, entrants must:

• Share original photos/videos on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram demonstrating Park and Play Fun Tour activities
  •  Accounts must be set to public for discoverability

•  Include the hashtag #ParkandPlayTour
• Tag @markhamrecreation

Markham shall not be responsible for lost, late or misdirected entries, or the inability to process entries. All Contest entries are the property of Markham. Individuals may submit more than one unique photo entry. Each unique photo is considered one unique entry. The same photo shared to multiple platforms will be considered one (1) entry.

Prize

There will be one prize awarded: 1 (one) One-Month Recreation Activity Pass
Only one (1) prize will be awarded for the Contest winner. The odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received by the Contest closing date. The prize must be accepted as awarded, and is non-transferable and non-refundable. Markham reserves the right to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes are awarded as-is, and no warranties, guarantees or representations are implied or expressed.

Selection

The winner will be selected randomly by Markham. The winner will be drawn on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Winners will be contacted by DM (direct message) on the social media platform their entry was received. Three (3) attempts to contact a winner will be made. Markham reserves the rights to feature winning photos on social media in September.

Prize Claim

Prior to receiving the prize, the winner will be required to: (1) correctly answer a skill-testing question; and (2) sign a declaration confirming compliance with the Contest Rules, releasing Markham and their representatives from all liability in connection with the Contest and the prize, and consenting to the use of the winner’s name, city of residence and image, and the use/display of the winner’s unique photo entry, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by Markham. If the winner is under the age of majority in Ontario (18 years), they must have their parent/legal guardian sign the declaration. The signed declaration must be received by Markham prior to the release of the prize.

Limitation of Liability

By entering the Contest, entrants agree that Markham shall not be liable for and agree to release, indemnify and hold Markham and their elected officials, directors, officers, employees, agents, local boards and affiliates harmless from any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and any liability of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from entrant’s participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession or use of any prize that may be won.

Personal Information

By entering the Contest, entrants consent to their personal information being stored, used and processed by Markham for the purposes of this Contest and any other purpose indicated by the entrant.

General

By entering this Contest, entrants agree to comply with these Contest Rules. All decisions of Markham are final. Markham may, in its sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering the Contest whom it believes to be abusing the Contest Rules. Such abuse includes entering false information. Markham reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest Rules at any time without notice. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.
