The City of Markham has made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person recreational programs for the 2021 Winter Session scheduled from January 9 to March 14, 2021 and extend the closure of all recreational facilities until further notice. During this time, virtual programs continue to be offered without disruption.
Older adults ages 65 years and older receive a 30% discount on all programs fees
Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the program to ensure adequate time for the COVID-19 screening process
Once the screening process is completed and the program has started the doors will be locked. Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 safety guidelines we are unable to accommodate late comers as access to programs must be strictly controlled
Washrooms are available (it is recommended that participants limit the use of the washrooms while at the centre)
A parent and/or guardian participation may be required for select programs
Public health guidelines and protocols will be in place, including:
Screening protocols
Physical distancing
Limited number of participants
Enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures
A mask or face covering is required at all times, except when swimming
Participants will be guided to the hand washing and/or hand sanitizing station pre and post screening/assessment and prior to participating in the activity
Follow all safety and directional signage
Indoor change rooms, lockers and showers are not available
Personal belongings can be placed in the program room at designated area for each individual
Participants must keep a safe distance from others (2 metres or 6 feet) at all times
Following the program, equipment will be sanitized and high-touch surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected
In the event first aid is required to be performed by staff, personal protective equipment and specialized devices will be used at the first available opportunity
In some instances, close contact first aid treatment may be required and staff will use their best judgement to assist the individual and maintain physical distancing
