Markham Mayor’s Youth Council is a group of diverse and dedicated teens representing the fabric of Markham’s youth community. We are dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating youth, as well as being an active voice in the City of Markham. The MMYC is a branch of the Markham Council run by youth. It is composed of youth, Markham Councillors and the Mayor of Markham. The purpose of the MMYC is to provide local youth a voice by which they may give input and develop initiatives to enhance youth opportunities within the City of Markham.

The application deadline to become a new MMYC has passed. Please check back in 2023 summer for next year's application information.
The MMYC is a youth advisory council for the City of Markham; a team of youth that represent all regions of Markham to raise awareness of community issues and allow youth to get involved. Apply today to make a difference in Markham.
Note that you must be in grades 8-12, and currently residing in Markham or attending a school in Markham in order to apply. As well, take careful consideration when writing this application as it is a very competitive process.

EVOLVE is an annual conference for incoming high school students. It aims to help empower youth by emphasizing the importance of community involvement and leadership. The event consists of workshops, inspirational speakers and an opportunity fair, with representatives from various Markham organizations and councils.
Amazing Race

This full-day charity event brings together hundreds of high school students from across the City in friendly competition.
Markham Youth Expo

The City’s Biggest Annual Youth Festival! You won’t want to miss Markham’s feature Youth Week event. This free annual event brings together youth from all across the City to showcase their leadership and talent. Activities for all ages include eXpo Factor, Step It Up Dance Competition, Sustainable Fashion Show, Minute-to-Win- it Games, food trucks and much more.
It’s a great way to meet new people and have fun organizing events. Represent the youth community City-wide, as part of the Markham Mayor’s Youth Council or join a dynamic area-specific council that addresses the needs of youth closer to home.
Youth Council members can earn volunteer hours for their involvement? It also helps set you apart in the workforce and when applying for scholarships and awards!
