Big Drum Celebration

Join us at the Markham Civic Centre for the Big Drum Celebration — a powerful morning of Indigenous ceremony, music, and connection. This year’s celebration will honour Indigenous traditions through drumming, song, and community gathering. The program will feature cultural teachings and storytelling by Ts’msyen sisters Shannon Thunderbird and Kate Dickson, an interactive round dance, a live performance by 3- time JUNO Award–nominated band Sultans of String, and a flag-raising ceremony to mark our shared commitment to truth, reconciliation, and Indigenous cultural recognition. Come reflect, learn, and celebrate the voices and traditions of Indigenous communities.
