Strategic Plan Giveaway Contest and Rules

ELIGIBILITY – The Contest is open to all residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry.  The Contest is not open to elected officials or employees of The Corporation of the City of Markham (“Markham”), or members of their immediate families living in the same household. Markham reserves the right to verify the eligibility of the potential winners. 

CONTEST PERIOD - The Contest starts on Tuesday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EDT, and ends on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

ENTRY – No purchase is necessary to enter this Contest. Participants that complete the Markham Museum Strategic Plan Survey can enter the Contest. Limit to a maximum of 1 entry per person. Markham shall not be responsible for lost, late, misdirected or stolen entries, or the inability to process entries.  All Contest entries are the property of Markham.

PRIZES – There will be five (5) prizes awarded: 

• Five (5) $40 Visa Gift Cards 

The odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received by the Contest closing date. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are non-transferable and non-refundable. Markham reserves the right to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes are awarded as-is, and no warranties, guarantees or representations are implied or expressed. 

DRAW – Potential winners will be selected by random draw from among all eligible entries received by the Contest closing date/time. Contest draw will take place March 30^th, 2026.  Potential winner will be contacted by email. Up to three attempts to contact a potential winner will be made. After three unsuccessful attempts have been made to contact the potential winner, another name will be drawn. This process will be repeated until the prize has been awarded.  

PRIZE CLAIM - Prior to receiving the prize, each potential winner will be required to: (1) show valid photo ID; (2) correctly answer a skill-testing question; and (3) sign a declaration confirming compliance with the Contest Rules, releasing Markham and its representatives from all liability in connection with the Contest and the prize, and consenting to the use of his/her name, city of residence and photograph (or other likeness), without compensation, in any publicity carried out by Markham. If the winner is under the age of majority in Ontario, he/she must have his/her parent/legal guardian sign the declaration. The signed declaration must be received by Markham prior to the release of the prize.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY - By entering the Contest, entrants agree that Markham shall not be liable for, and entrants agree to release, indemnify and hold Markham, its elected officials, directors, officers, employees, agents and affiliates harmless from any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and any liability of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from entrant’s participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession or use of any prize that may be won. 

PERSONAL INFORMATION - By entering the Contest, entrants consent to their personal information being stored, used and processed by Markham for the purposes of this Contest and any other purpose indicated by the entrant.

GENERAL - By entering this Contest, entrants agree to comply with these Contest Rules.  All decisions of Markham are final. Markham may, in its sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering the Contest whom it believes to be abusing the Contest Rules. Such abuse includes entering false information and entering more than once. Markham reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest Rules at any time without notice.
