Urban Roads
Boulevard Repair (Interlock Paving, Sodding & Seeding)
Boulevards are inspected on routine scheduled patrols. Regular maintenance and repairs along boulevards include sod damage due to salt and sand accumulations through the winter; and correction to drainage problems caused by irregularities along the boulevard.
Leaf Vacuuming or Sweeping
Sweeping of leaves on the roads in subdivisions with curbs and gutters takes place from September through to November along a scheduled route of heavily treed areas.
Sweeping leaves on the road prevents the obstruction of catchbasins and sewers, and ensures pavement markings along the road surface remain visible.
Fallen leaves on residential and commercial properties shall not be raked or blown onto the roadway, but set out for collection in Kraft paper bags on their regularly scheduled garbage/ recycling pick-up days commencing on the 1st of April until the end of November. Spills
All spills shall be reported to the Fire Department by calling 911. Street operations act in support of the Fire Department in spill clean up.
Dead Animals (on Road or Road Side)
Animals deceased on the road or road side will be collected by City staff, as required.
Street Sweeping or Flushing
The initial phase of the annual spring clean up of the road system will be schedule during the month of April and flushing activities shall following spring clean up sweeping operations.
Waste Receptacle Cleaning & Repair
Waste receptacles located through the community along public roads, walkways, bus stops and boulevards are emptied three times weekly or more frequently where necessary.
Debris Pickup
Debris such as cans, bottles, paper, etc. along the road surface, shoulder, boulevard or median is removed regularly.
Boulevards with high volumes of pedestrian traffic receive scheduled debris pick up on a bi-weekly basis throughout the year.
Rural Roads
Dead Animals (on Road or Road Side)
Animals deceased on the road or road side will be collected by City staff, as required.
Debris Pickup
Debris such as cans, bottles, paper, etc. along the road surface, shoulder, boulevard or median is removed regularly to discourage dumping.
Grass Mowing
Mowing takes place throughout the months of May to September. Rural tractor mowing is scheduled three times per year for two swaths. Additional mowing may be scheduled to maintain safe sight distances.
Roadside Ditching
Ditches are inspected on a regular basis throughout the year to identify required maintenance.
