WEST THORNHILL STORM SEWER & WATER REPLACEMENT PROJECT - PHASE 1
Update as of August 2016
Construction of Phase 1A works was substantially complete in July 2016 and a Milestone Celebration Event was held in Bayview Glen Park on July 27, 2016. Minor property restoration will continue throughout August. Roadway paving in the Phase 1B area is planned for fall 2016 and initiation of the Glencrest Park rain garden feature will begin in fall. Phase 1C construction of storm sewer and watermain works will continue through fall 2016 with base road restoration planned before the winter season.
Update as of March 2015
Due to permitting requirements and construction scheduling, Doncrest Drive between Bayview Avenue and Prescott Court will be closed to all traffic for approximately eight (8) weeks beginning April 2015. Residents are encouraged to use Laureleaf Road for access to / from Bayview Avenue during the road closure.
Update as of August 2014
The City of Markham is replacing existing storm sewers on Doncrest Drive, Poinsetta Drive and Daffodil Avenue as the first phase of the West Thornhill flood remediation project and the long-term City-wide Flood Control Program. These roads will be temporarily closed to through traffic during construction (local access only). Watermain replacement and road reconstruction will be completed on these streets and watermains will be replaced on Rossea, Spirea and Sunflower Courts.
The construction is scheduled to begin July 2014 and is expected to last approximately one (1) year. Doncrest Drive will be closed between Bayview Avenue and Prescott Court for approximately six (6) weeks beginning August 2014.

Update November 12, 2013
The City of Markham is continuing field investigations to support storm sewer design in the Phase One and Phase Two improvement areas in West Thornhill. Phase One investigations will occur on Canadiana Drive and Phase Two investigations will occur within the area shown on the map below.
Field investigations include:
- topographic surveys,
- subsurface utility locates and marking, and
- drilling of boreholes to confirm soil conditions in future construction areas.
These field investigations will begin in November 2013 and continue through early December 2013. Construction of storm sewer upgrades and associated watermain replacement is expected to begin in the Phase one area in 2014.
