MONTHLY OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMIT
In the City of Markham, Parking Permits are only issued to residents of Markham in approved zones.
We have recently updated our system. To apply for or renew a Monthly Overnight Parking Permit through the City of Markham, please use the link below. This system allows Markham residents to purchase monthly overnight parking permits online. To purchase your monthly overnight parking permit, you must create an account. If you have already created an account, please log into the account. Existing Permit Holders will no longer receive physical permits in the mail to be displayed.
Before proceeding, please ensure that you have carefully reviewed and that you understand and agree to the Monthly Overnight Parking Permit guidelines below. Failure to comply will result in a penalty notice.
If you encounter issues with obtaining a monthly parking permit please email MonthlyParking@markham.ca for additional assistance.
Guidelines for All Monthly Overnight Parking Permit Holders
Proof of residency (Driver’s Licence, utility bill, etc.) and vehicle ownership (vehicle registration) are required for a new permit. Permits can be purchased one month in advance for a period of up to 3 months. Each permit is purchased for a specific calendar month and expires on the last day of that month.
Permits are only valid for the licence plate number which it is purchased for and only allows a vehicle to park overnight between the hours of 2:30 AM to 6:00 AM, weather permitting. Please note, having a Monthly Overnight Parking Permit does not exempt you from any other parking violations. Vehicles must be parked on their own street and only in the area where overnight permit parking is authorized in the amended City Parking By-law 2005-188.
Permits will only be issued to operating and licensed vehicles. Monthly Overnight Parking Permits for Commercial Motor Vehicles will not be granted even if the system accepts the plate upon entry. Commercial Motor Vehicles include but are not limited to the following: trailers, recreational vehicles, tow trucks, cube vans, buses, school buses, dump trucks, boats, snowmobiles, mobile homes, etc.
All on street parking is prohibited during snow clearing operations/winter maintenance. Therefore, existing Monthly Overnight Parking Permits held by residents are not valid during snow clearing/Winter maintenance. Vehicles parking on a City street during snow clearing/Winter operations will be ticketed and/or towed. The fine for interfering with snow removal or Winter maintenance is $150. Residents can expect snow clearing to begin at the start of any snowfall and continue for up to the next 24 hours. Winter maintenance means all Winter service operations including and not limited to salting and sanding.
The Monthly Overnight Parking Permit does not permit vehicles to be parked at the same location within an area designated as monthly overnight permit parking in excess of forty-eight (48) continuous hours. If found in violation, the vehicle can be ticketed and/or towed.
Please note, it may be necessary to remove vehicles off the streets when tree pruning is required, or when street repairs such as paving and curb work are being completed.
Possession of an Overnight Monthly Parking Permit does not guarantee that a space will be available within the permit parking area. Parking spaces may be limited.
Monthly parking permits are non-refundable. Please ensure you purchase only the monthly parking permits that you require.
The City reserves the right to revoke permits at its sole discretion.
