As the largest sporting event ever hosted in York Region, the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham brought together world-class racing, unforgettable entertainment, and thousands of visitors from near and far. The energy, enthusiasm, and support shown throughout the weekend helped create a truly memorable event and showcased Markham as a premier destination for major sporting and cultural events.
This milestone event would not have been possible without the passion of racing fans and the warm welcome extended by our community. Together, we helped make history and delivered an exciting motorsport festival that will be remembered for years to come.

Accessible Parking
Parking Lot 2 at the Markham Civic Centre has 35 accessible parking spaces available. Please note, they are available on a first come first serve basis.
For additional accessible parking options, an accessible shuttle will run from the Blue Aviva/Remington lot to Gate 2. If you need to access the shuttle, please enter the Blue lot from Birchmount Rd and park near the Aviva building. Guests with accessible needs could also consider parking at a GO station on the Soufville line and taking the train to Unionville GO.

York Region Transit Advisory
Customers travelling to the Honda Indy on Routes 1 – Highway 7, 8 – Kennedy and Viva Purple can exit at the westbound stop 9885/Main Street Unionville viva station or the eastbound stop 9884/Main Street Unionville viva station. From either stop, walk south on Main St. Unionville to reach the event entrance at Enterprise Boulevard and Unionville Gate.
Track Map
The 2026 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Markham will be held in Markham Centre, the city’s dynamic downtown core. Markham Centre is home to many Canadian corporate headquarters, the York University Markham campus, and the acclaimed Markham Pan Am Centre – a key venue during the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
The temporary track will be built in the eastern precinct of Markham’s downtown core, between Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, Unionville GO tracks and Highway 407.
The thrilling temporary track design process has been led by renowned track designer Tony Cotman of NRC Consulting. The circuit features a 12-turn, 3.52-kilometer (2.19-mile) layout including a double-sided pit lane, thrilling straightaways and technically challenging sectors. The City of Markham has begun early works on the track and festival site in coordination with Metrolinx and other area partners.
Noise Warning
The IndyCar roar will be heard across Markham from August 14 to 16. With exciting and high-performance racing comes sound! The community can expect noise-levels equivalent to that of a rock concert during August 14 to 16 between 9 AM to 6 PM.
Intermittent sound can include engine testing and support‑series activities. Ear protection is recommended for outdoor workers and sensitive individuals. Additionally, leading up to the race event there may be track preparation related noise.

Unionville GO: Upcoming station impacts for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham
Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 6:00 PM, there will be significant impacts to all station access:
- All customer parking areas at Unionville GO will be closed, and all vehicles must be removed from all parking areas before 6:00 PM.
- Very limited access to the station. No vehicles will be allowed in or out of the station.
- Passenger pick-up and drop-off access will be closed.
- No step-free access will be available by road to and from the station during this event. Customers who require step-free access to GO services can consider alternative stations.
- Please use an alternative Stouffville line station:
- Milliken GO: approximately 10 minutes southwest of Unionville GO by car.
- Centennial GO: approximately 10 minutes northeast of Unionville GO by car.
From Aug. 12 to 17, to accommodate planned road and station closures, the bus loop will be temporarily relocated to the intersection of Birchmount Road and Enterprise Boulevard. This temporary stop is approximately a 30-minute walk from Unionville GO.
There is no step-free access to the temporary bus stop. GO bus customers should consider alternative stations during this period.
Additional information for GO bus customers:
- Route 71 customers: You can connect to Route 71 buses at Centennial or Mount Joy GO. The GO bus stops at Centennial GO are located at street level on Bullock Drive, near the community centre.
- Routes 52 and 56 customers:
- If you're travelling eastbound toward Durham College Oshawa GO, please consider using the Cornell Transit Terminal.
- If you're travelling westbound toward Oakville GO, please consider using Richmond Hill Centre or Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
- Please note that free parking is not available at either terminal.
- Route 40 customers: You can connect to Route 40 buses at Richmond Hill Centre, near Langstaff GO.
- Route 70 customers: You can connect to Route 70 buses at Mount Joy GO.
- Routes 40, 52, 56, 70, and 71 will serve the temporary bus stop on weekdays.
- Routes 40, 52, and 71 will serve the temporary bus stop on weekends.
- Bus service frequencies will remain unchanged and continue as scheduled.

- How loud will the race be? What is the City doing to minimize noise?
Like all motorsport events, there will be high-speed car sounds. To minimize disruption:
- Races are scheduled during the day across three days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Race times will be communicated in advance by the event organizer.
- Noise levels vary depending on location:
- Trackside/Grandstands: Comparable to an outdoor music concert. Intermittent noises.
- Away from festival area: Sound fades significantly, though intermittent muffled noise may still be heard.
- Is the City of Markham financially supporting the event?
Yes. The City’s role is ensuring roads are suitable for racing. Key points:
- Event organizers will use the Markham Pan Am Centre.
- Organizers are responsible for all infrastructure setup and removal (grandstands, fencing, barriers).

- About Demi Chalkias
At just 16, Demi Chalkias was a top-performing triathlete, competing at the World Qualifiers and securing a remarkable 6th-place finish—despite suffering a severe hip injury. The injury ultimately forced her early retirement from the sport, but Demi’s competitive drive never wavered. She channeled her relentless determination into her other passion: racing. Starting in karting, Demi quickly progressed through the ranks, excelling in high-performance driving and racing academies before making her leap into car racing.
Today, Demi Chalkias is a multi-championship-winning Canadian race car driver, breaking barriers and redefining possibilities for women in motorsports. As the first female to win her championships and compete in select series, she has been a trailblazer for over a decade—advocating for equality, representation, and the next generation of racers.
Demi’s journey is featured in the full-length documentary The Car Knows No Difference, streaming on TSN+ and soon to be released on additional global platforms.
- About Anthony Martella
Anthony Martella is a 17-year-old racing driver from Woodbridge, Ontario, competing in the USF2000 Championship with Exclusive Autosport as part of the USF Pro Championships ladder to IndyCar.
Anthony began his racing career in karting, where he quickly established himself as one of Canada's top young talents before progressing into sports cars and open-wheel racing. At just 15 years old, he captured a TCR class victory at the 2024 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto, showcasing his versatility across multiple disciplines.
In 2026, Anthony emerged as one of the leading competitors in the USF2000 Championship. With multiple race wins under his belt, he currently sits as the top ranked Canadian on the USF Pro Championships ladder and remains firmly in the hunt for the championship.
Earlier this year, Anthony was named the 2025 JMF Motorsports Rising Star by the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame, recognizing him as Canada's most promising young racing driver. His performances have been defined by exceptional speed, consistency, and maturity beyond his years, attracting attention throughout the North American motorsport community.
Carrying this momentum and growing recognition across the sport, Anthony continues to build his reputation as one of Canada's strongest prospects for a future in IndyCar.
