Winter and Summer Parking
Winter Parking During Snow Clearing/Winter Maintenance
During winter maintenance and snow-clearing operations, parking on all City streets is strictly prohibited. These temporary restrictions ensure crews can clear snow quickly and safely, keeping roads and sidewalks accessible for residents, service vehicles, and emergency responders.

Please note that all existing parking permits and overnight exemptions are suspended during snow-clearing and winter maintenance operations. Vehicles parked on the roadway that interfere with snow-clearing efforts may be ticketed and/or towed.
How Winter Maintenance Works
During a snowstorm, you can track the progress of road and sidewalk plows using Markham’s Winter Maintenance App. The app shows plowing activity as crews begin with primary roads, then move to secondary roads, local streets, and sidewalks.
Whenever possible, residents are encouraged to use alternative parking options to avoid disrupting snow-clearing operations and to reduce the risk of receiving a penalty notice.
Please remember: On-street parking between 2:30 AM and 6:00 AM is not permitted year-round without a valid exemption.
When Winter Parking Rules Apply

- On-street parking may resume only when operations are complete and normal City parking regulations are back in effect.
- Vehicles parked on City streets during winter maintenance operations will be ticketed and/or towed.
