Markham Mayor & Council Appoints Deputy Chief Adam Grant to Position of Fire Chief
MARKHAM, ON – November 10, 2020 – The City of Markham is pleased to announce that Adam J. Grant was appointed as the new Fire Chief for Markham Fire and Emergency Services, by a unanimous vote of Council, effective today. The appointment follows the retirement of Chief Dave Decker.
Chief Grant has 14 years of committed and dedicated public service with the City of Markham. He joined Markham Fire and Emergency Services in 2006 and has previously served in the roles of Fire Prevention Officer, Public Education Officer, Chief Fire Prevention Officer and most recently, Deputy Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator. Chief Grant has also been instrumental in leading the City’s Emergency Operations Centre most recently through the COVID-19 pandemic.

"A compassionate and determined professional, Chief Grant is as much a teacher as he is a first responder.
