The Suppression Division of Markham Fire and Emergency Services is what people envision when they hear the words Fire Department or firefighter. We are the 240 men and women who staff the fire stations on a 24/7 basis.
We are highly motivated to perform in a caring sensitive manner and respond to our customers needs which may be anything from a fully involved structure fire, motor vehicle collision, medicals emergency or various school programs conducted in our elementary schools.
The Suppression Division operates 11 front run apparatus, 9 pumpers, 1 aerial and 1 aerial platform out of 9 stations. We also deploy 2 Command Officers, a Battalion Chief specialized in Special Operations and a Battalion Chief specialized in Technical Rescue. In addition to the 11 front run apparatus, there are 4 spare apparatus, 1 Technical Rescue, 1 Tanker, 1 Air/Light, and 1 utility truck that can be placed in service by our staff.
