The City of Markham signed a historic agreement of Cultural Collaboration with Eabametoong First Nation, also known as Fort Hope. Eabametoong is an Ojibway First Nation located 360 kilometres north of Thunder Bay, Ontario on the northern shore of Eabamet Lake.

A comprehensive review of its zoning by-laws and existing zoning framework. As part of Markham’s New Comprehensive Zoning By-law Project, the City’s many zoning by-laws will be reviewed in order to implement the policies of the City’s new Official Plan.

A comprehensive planning process to guide development of the Future Urban Area lands in north Markham. This Future Urban Area will accommodate neighbourhood and employment growth in north Markham.

The City of Markham approved the merger of PowerStream with Enersource and Horizon Utilities and the purchase of Hydro One Brampton. The proposed company will provide service to over 900,000 customers in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Area.

This multi-phase program was implemented to reduce the risk of basement flooding, and to limit environmental concerns caused by directly connecting downspouts to the sanitary sewer system.
