Older Adult Strategy
Markham’s Older Adult Strategy
The City of Markham has developed an Older Adult Strategy to help older adults stay active, healthy and engaged in their community.
We are committed to building a community which fosters a deep sense of belonging, and want to ensure our residents have access to opportunities and services that increase their quality of life.
Throughout the summer and fall of 2016, we connected with older adults (and future older adults) residents and local community service providers to help inform the creation of Markham’s Older Adult Strategy.
The results from the community consultation have been compiled and reviewed by our consultant. An analysis of the findings was presented to Council in October, 2017. The Older Adult Strategy will ensure Markham is an age-friendly community that is ready to address the challenges of an increasingly older population, and is aligned with the City’s goal for an engaged, diverse and thriving City as outlined in Building Markham’s Future Together: 2015-2019 Strategic Plan.
