2018 Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Awards
MARKHAM, ON – September 27, 2018 – Join us on Monday, October 1 on National Seniors Day, for the 20th annual Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Awards to celebrate our dedicated volunteers for their years of service, passion and leadership. Markham is proud to be a City with a long and strong history of exemplary volunteerism, and our seniors are no exception.
"We appreciate their volunteerism, the skills and experience they bring, while also providing guidance and leadership, sharing their time in their retirement years to help improve the lives of others," says Mayor Frank Scarpitti. "Some of our most dedicated volunteers are our seniors, and we depend on their support and contributions to bring our events and services to the community."
Each year, the Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Award is presented to a nominee who has made a significant contribution to life in the City of Markham, is more than 60 years of age, and has been a Markham resident for at least seven years.
"There are so many seniors in Markham that put their whole heart into the community," says Yash Kapur, Chair of the Mayor's Seniors' Hall of Fame Committee. "This is an opportunity to honour them for the outstanding work they have accomplished and continue to pursue."
